abstract

the purpose of this study was to determine the relationships among attachment styles (avoidant, secure and ambivalent), emotional intelligence, marital satisfaction and marital conflict in married female teachers of elementary schools in ahvaz. in this descriptive-correlational study, the sample consisted of 250 married female teachers who were selected through multi-stage random sampling. to gather the data, the the marital satisfaction scale (mss), the overt hostility o’leary-porter scale (ops), the emotional intelligence scale (eis) and adult the attachment scale (aas) were used. in order to analyze the data, simple and multiple correlations were obtained using spss(version 16). there were significantly negative correlations between avoidant and ambivalent attachment styles and marital satisfaction as well as significantly positive correlations between avoidant and ambivalent attachment styles and marital conflict. the results showed that the ambivalent attachment style and emotional intelligence were respectively negative and positive predictors of marital satisfaction, while the  ambivalent and avoidant attachment styles and emotional intelligence were positive and negative predictors of marital conflict.
